Neverwinter Nights II: Europa.

This blog is dedicated to the players of Neverwinter Nights II and to the world of Europa (Currently in its stage 2 development).

Europa II: The Dark Age is in development. The landscape has been revamped and generated using the terrain builder tool L3DT, with 4 starting cities and a dozen beyond that. E2-tDA will also include over 40 Dungeons of various types, make use of skill-adventuring and have over 60 exterior & 100 interior areas to explore. Europa II takes up where E1 started and takes it to the next level, carrying the content over and adding more... The project is in development and will be continually expanding over the next four years (2011-2015).

We're Back!

- Wow, what a summer. If anyone was wondering "what ever happened to Europa?", it's an easy answer... real world work... lol
- I have been working for a college for the past 5 weeks in an intensive & immersive English as a Second Language program, requiring me to live on campus and leave behind all technology during my teaching term. It was a spectacular 5 weeks and I met people from all around the world, in addition, I got a full time job for the fall out of it!
- Soon my girlfriend will be going for major dental and jaw surgery and will be incapacitated for many weeks as a result, this will slow down the project just a little, but that's is understandable. Europa will be back on track and hopefully launched before 2011 begins, at least in the testing phase.
- There is still allot to do and I am in need of a part time scripter, but most seem to be engaged in their own projects or uninterested in joining projects they don't have complete/major control of... lol
- I will be beginning to build terrains again today. My first priority is to do a server load test and make sure the server CAN handle all the zones I want to add. This means connecting ALL the areas together and preparing the walkmesh layout. Decorations and what-not's will come in Phase II.

The build schedule should work out something like this:

I - All exterior areas, transitions and walkmesh setups.
- Test the server for any load issues.
II - Build-up the cities, terrains and scenery.
- Another load test to iron out any issues.
III - Add NPC content, conversations and scripts necessary to skills, careers and traps etc.
- Thoroughly test all aspects and conversations.
IV - Add spawns, traps and treasures.
- Launch!

Keep an eye no the progress reports here and our posting site at.
Erik.

  1. Ah, excellent progress has been made.

    - Quadrants 1 & 2, that is the isles of Britannia and Western Europa, are made, linked by transitions and most have their basic textures done. 8 of the 24 exterior terrains still need their basic textures and 4 of the walkmeshe setups need to be tweaked, but otherwise those terrains are Phase I completed.
    - Additionally, The cities of Glastenbury Tor and Parisii have their structures up and the major building interiors laid out. Parisii, now an island, has a rowboat players take to go back and forth across the Rhenus river.

...now, for those paying attention to the development blogs and the posting site, you will note that the server, containing these two quadrants and the cities mentioned above, is online... ! 0_o Yes, that's right, I have put it online for the next few days (Aug 31st to Sept 2nd only!)... The password to access the server is 'test001'.
...you must use an existing character as there is no current way for you to get a Europa Contract which allows the use of the portals. Remember, the server is only up for 3 days and contains only 2/5 of the total exterior terrains, it's just to give you an idea of how big the new Europa will be.

    Erik.
